Given that we’re all destined (statistically) to lose money eventually, I can’t fault folks, especially on low budgets, for spreading cash around on less safe bets in the hopes of making their time at the table last longer, or chasing their crazy dreams. It sucked! But I was ready for that eventuality, didn’t lose more than I could afford to, and didn’t let it ruin my day. A few weeks ago I walked in with $1000 and walked out with $0 about 20 minutes later, playing the “safest” bet in the house (DP/DC max odds). There are some profoundly stupid bets out there that no one should ever make ever (Any 7, Big 6/8), but to get to the point where you’re at an infinitesimal house edge, you need to be willing to show up with and lose a lot of money.
Ultimately, the odds will never be in the player’s favor.
